I was talking to Taylor about a job. As in, my getting a job. And of course, as it always happens these days, the conversation turned to America. Here's what he said that hit me: 

"Did you know over 50% of American's aren't prepared to financially take on a $400 emergency? When you think about it that way, a lot of the divide makes sense." 

The difference between the haves and have-nots grows, and with it grows our ability to understand where each other are coming from.
