Many evenings, amateur astronomer Chris Grohusko, aka @ufopilot1, accepts donations in return for showing people around the night sky. He talks at light speed, and purposefully uses turns of phrase such as, The gravity that pulled me into astronomy was... with nary a smirk in sight.
"Why astronomy?" I asked.
"The stars are a puzzle," he said. "But the answers are all out there. It's a puzzle I can put back together."
And then he showed me and Tami the Seven Sisters, which looks like artfully displayed glitter on a piece of black construction paper.
"But people are puzzles too," I pressed. "Why not them instead of stars?"
"The stars always felt more accessible," he told me. "They're right there."
We live in a world where stars feel easier to grasp than other humans.
